Here is a link to the site of Intervoice - a valuable organisation, working to improve the rights of the emotionally distressed (AKA mentally ill) in society. I have just signed up to their 'One in a Million' campaign to help to get the word out about their work. Please take a look: http://www.intervoiceonline.org/
Also, over the last few years I have listened to various TED talks, usually from psychiatric survivors. These talks, on many different subjects, are an absolutely invaluable resource, so I am linking to that site too:

Fill your boots!
Just visited the Intervoice website and all I can say is WOW! I am so happy that someone is trying to normalise the phenomenon of hearing voices. If they are successful, it will go a long way to help! I signed their pledge and left my story in the comments box: http://www.intervoiceonline.org/about-voices/personal-experience/share-your-stor It's not been passed through the moderators yet though.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be checking Intervoice out again though and seeing if they are on Twitter! Thank you for pointing out a really useful organisation!!

Really glad you found it useful. Intervoice are definitely on Twitter and Facebook - I saw the details on their site. Well done for sharing your story - I also tried to mine, but could not publish it for some reason - I'll try again sometime.
ReplyDeleteThere is a heading 'Connect with Us' on the top right hand side of the home page, and it has the buttons for Facebook, Twitter, etc.
